The first two weeks of breastfeeding
The first milk, colostrum, comes in tiny amounts — teaspoons, not bottles — and that is exactly what a newborn stomach (the size of a cherry on day one) needs. Mature milk typically “comes in” on day 3–5.
Feed on demand, usually 8–12 times per 24 hours. Early and frequent feeding is the single biggest driver of good supply.
